Welcome to our ‘outstanding’ maintained Nursery school for 3-4 year olds. We are an inclusive nursery setting, providing a rich and stimulating learning environment for all children, which enables all children to make “excellent progress from their many and varied starting points” (Ofsted March 2010).
Our dedicated and skilled staff team are committed to providing high quality, carefully structured play and learning opportunities, based around the Early Years Foundation Stage framework that fosters childrens emotional, intellectual, moral, social, physical and cultural development.
Our induction procedures ensure that “every child settles quickly and develops excellent attitudes to learning.” (Ofsted)
Home visits are made to every child where an ‘All About Me’ booklet is completed with parents.
Within our well resourced Nursery facilities, there are three shared classrooms, a sensory room, a soft play room, as well as an outdoor learning environment, which incorporates a garden and adventure trail area. Our curriculum is enriched through visits into the wider community including our local Forest Trail, the allotments and Alice Holt Forest. We place value on every child being secure and having a special and close relationship with a member of staff who acts as a Key person. A child’s Key person works closely with parents so that together learning is supported and information is shared.
Nursery staff plan high quality learning experiences based on well planned play, seeing this as the key way in which children learn with enjoyment. We are recognised as providing support and challenge taking “every opportunity to develop children’s learning.” (Ofsted)
Each child has a ‘Learning Journal’ which documents their learning experiences, and is shared regularly with parents. Next step learning is planned in discussion with parents.
